The application to be a Teaching Fellow for the 2019 High School Laboratory Program is now open.
The Life Sciences Outreach Program welcomes graduate students and postdocs to participate and lead much of our programming as LSO Teaching Fellows (TFs). Our TFs teach 3-hour laboratory sessions to high school students for our Spring Program, lead teachers through activities based on current research in our Fall Faculty Speaker series, teach underserved high school students valuable lab skills at the Harvard Ed Portal, or supervise high school interns in the laboratory. Some of our opportunities are paid an hourly wage or are awarded a stipend.
We offer teaching workshops to our TFs in conjunction with the Derek Bok Center for Teaching and Learning. LSO TFs have the opportunity to be observed while teaching and receive feedback and potentially use their LSO experience to pursue a Bok Teaching Certificate.
As funding and time allows we welcome graduate students and post-doctoral fellows to develop a novel hands-on laboratory protocol to offer during our spring program, and we welcome new ideas.
